Mental health experts are closely monitoring the effects of social isolation due to the current pandemic on an individual's mental and physical health.  Especially critical are children in early development and adolescence who are at the greatest risk of impaired social development.
Current research tells us that dogs (both working dogs and companion dogs) help humans to maintain and enhance
social, emotional, and physical skill building naturally, and long term.
We invite families to work with their family dog in therapy, enrichment, or training!

ALL dogs provide a level of support and motivation for humans.
Why not work with your family dog?

,Combining her nursing expertise with guiding principles,
best practices, and current research
in Animal-Assisted Interventions,
Cindy uses a holistic approach in guiding human participants
and a dog, on and off leash,
through purposeful exercises to achieve
emotional, social, and physical health goals
.

Every living being may place themselves on a spectrum of emotions (empathy), social interactions (introvert/extrovert), intelligence (learner types), and physical ability (visible/invisible.
While important for billing purposes in traditional settings, medical diagnoses do not follow our human
(nor our canine) participants through our doors
as we chose to focus on what each person experiences
as a result of an assigned diagnosis.

For example, anxiety caused by trauma can manifest as abdominal pain (a physical pain) and prevent a child from attending school.  Relieving the anxiety, through Animal-Assisted Therapy, will rid the body of the physical pain so the child attends school pain free and more importantly, with confidence and self-esteem.

Operation H.E.E.L. began as a mission to support our military children.  They chose to face extraordinary challenges both at home and at school with positivity and perseverance, knowing that their military family member serves or has served to secure our country's freedom.

It is through the resilience of military children that our mission be shared with all children as they overcome their own challenges.
